Kamili House is an exceptionally charming, civilised and comfortable home-away-from-home and the perfect setting for a luxurious and carefree break at the coast.  It is beautifully designed and appointed throughout – with lovely coastal & colonial furniture, antique Persian rugs & kilims and colourful paintings & prints, together with family photographs and mementoes – all arranged against a cool white backdrop to stunning and harmonious effect.

The house is entered through a lovely courtyard area filled with palm trees, bright pink bougainvillea and colourful tropical flowers.  A spacious high-ceilinged entrance hall leads onto the glamorous centrepiece of the house – the huge indoor/outdoor veranda with expansive sitting and dining areas and dramatic views across the swimming pool, lawned gardens and ancient Baobab trees to the ocean beyond.

“Thank you for opening and sharing your beautiful home with us – I have found such peace and happiness during our stay.  Your staff are truly special and the hospitality is exceptional.”

Rita, Florida

There are two airy bedroom wings on either side of the house and central courtyard.  One wing houses two spacious double bedroom suites with private bathrooms, dressing rooms and wardrobe areas. The other wing contains another large double bedroom suite, together with a double bedroom, twin bedroom and single bedroom which share a bathroom – ideal accommodation for a family with children.  All the bedroom areas have air-conditioning and fans and are secured with ‘Trellidor’ grilles at night.

There are private verandas and terraces outside several of the bedrooms, together with numerous other sitting and dining areas around the house and the gardens – meaning that Kamili can comfortably absorb numerous guests without feeling crowded or busy.  Also inside the house is a comfortable and private sitting room with television and collection of dvds, good books and magazines, and outside a spacious poolside pergola is another lovely shady place to socialise or siesta.

“This house exudes warmth and love and invites all who enter to fee close to nature – all accompanied by the beautiful and unique décor put together with such care.  Thank you so much for sharing it with us.”

The house and grounds are located in a quiet neighbourhood backing onto Kilifi Plantations with panoramic views onto the ocean and across to Bofa Beach to the north of Kilifi Town.  From the gardens a stone staircase leads down the cliff to a private sandy cove, and at low tide the beach extends northwards to the mouth of Kilifi Creek – it is a wonderful place for beachcombers of all ages with rock pools and caves to explore along the seashore.

Special mention must be made of the exceptional team of staff who look after Kamili House. Experienced, charming and attentive yet discreet, they will do all they can to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. Chef Walter has a wide repertoire of delicious dishes and specialises in lovely fresh seafood.  Jennifer supervises the housekeeping, Stanley and Karissa keep interiors immaculate and guests contented, and a team of groundsmen take meticulous care of the gardens and pool.

Location

Kilifi Harbour and Bridge

Kilifi Harbour and Bridge

Kilifi is a busy small town with plenty of shops and services including a Tusky’s supermarket. All kinds of watersports and activities are available – from deep-sea fishing to snorkelling, waterskiing and scuba diving – and a good starting point is the Mnarani Club just to the south of Kilifi Creek. Kilifi attracts ocean sailors and the creek offers a fabulous deep water yacht anchorage and is ideal for boating and windsurfing. Larger boats can be hired from the Boatyard about a mile up the creek on the south shore, where there is a pleasant bar, good company and simple food and drink.
